CHARLOTTE, NC- An Arlington, VA-based multifamily investment firm is considering building a 230-unit apartment complex across the street from what will be the BB&T Ballpark.

Woodfield Investments is contemplating purchasing a two-acre site on South Graham Street between West Third Street and West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. The land, which is owned by an affiliate of Wells Fargo & Co., is across the street from the ballpark that will be home to the Charlotte Knights, a minor league baseball affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. The stadium is currently under construction with the first pitch scheduled in 2014.

Woodfield has put the property under contract. Partner Chad Hagler says it's conducting due diligence on the transaction. “We're hopeful that we can move forward with it,” he says.

Preliminary plans call for four stories of apartments to be built atop two levels of parking. See story in the Charlotte Business Journal.
