CHICAGO-After failing to secure a deal last year at the Tribune Tower, Walgreen is now looking to open a smaller flagship-type store at the Wrigley Building down the street.

The Deerfield, IL-based drugstore company is in negotiations to lease approximately 30,000 square feet of space at the Wrigley Building at 400-410 N. Michigan Ave., according to Crain's Chicago Business. Last year, Walgreen had hoped to open a larger 50,000-square-foot store at Tribune Tower.

If negotiations are successful, the Walgreen store would be located on the ground and second floors of the property's north building and would face North Michigan Avenue and the walkway between the two Wrigley towers.

A rehab program for the mostly vacant 460,000-square-foot Wrigley Building is slated to be finished by the summer. See story in Chicago Real Estate Daily.
