DENVER—A local community group has filed a civil lawsuit against the city over its decision to change the zoning in Cherry Creek to allow a seven-story office building at 245 Columbine St.
The Denver Business Journal reports that the lawsuit was submitted by the Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association in March. The suit alleges the city council and planning board ignored evidence that the project could cause a "increase in traffic and ... inadequate parking" and also that the zoning change didn't meet the guidelines of the Cherry Creek Area Plan, the Journal reported.
Council members voted unanimously to change the zoning for a half-acre of land at 245 Columbine St. to a CMX-8 zone, which allows for higher density and taller buildings.
