PHILADELPHIA-The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board held the first of its two-day public hearings for Philadelphia's second casino license today.
Thursday's session featured a number of speakers who spoke in favor of one of the six applicants vying for the casino license. The public hearing will resume on Friday.
Philadelphia Deputy Mayor Alan Greenberger informed the gaming board that the city will eventually make a recommendation on which of the six projects it prefers, but at present is still evaluating each the applicants, according to the Inquirer.
The city has hired New York consulting firm AKRF to help it evaluate each of the proposals.
Greenberger said the city is assessing the economic impact of each applicant's gaming and non-gaming features, as well as the potential harm to the city's first casino, SugarHouse. See story in the Inquirer.
