TRENTON, NJ-The New Jersey Economic Development Authority says it will be ready in a few days to distribute grants to businesses impacted by Hurricane Sandy once the federal government signs off on its action plan on how it will distribute a total of $1.8 billion in federal assistance.
Michele Brown, chief executive of the state Economic Development Authority, told state lawmakers on Wednesday that his department is hoping to obtain federal approval of its action plan sometime later this month. Gov. Christie's action plan was sent to federal officials last month
"We plan to roll out the grant program in days after federal approval," Brown told the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee. "It will depend entirely on whether the federal government approves our action plan." See story in The Record.
