NEW YORK CITY-Family-operated Cookie's The Kids Department Store filed a notice with the New York State Department of Labor earlier this week that it will be closing its location at 2543 Webster. Ave. on June 20.
The children's retailer, which filed the notice under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act as Cookies on Webster Inc., will be vacating the 70,000-square-foot store. The firm, which also operates six stores in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens, cited economic reasons in its filing as the reason for the closure. All 124 workers at the Webster. Avenue store are to be laid off, according to Crain's New York Business.
Cookie's other store locations are: at the Fulton Mall in Brooklyn at 510 Fulton St.; 982 Flatbush Ave. in Brooklyn; 265 Livingston St. in Brooklyn; 567 Melrose Ave. at 149th St. in the Bronx; 1534 Westchester Ave. in the Bronx; and at 166-21 Jamaica Ave. at 168th St. in Jamaica, Queens.
