CHICAGO/SAN FRANCISCO—Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB), has named two new principals—Sheyla Conforte, and Tim Stevens. Conforte and Stevens will to continue to grow the firm's interior design and higher education practices, respectively.
Since joining the SCB's interior design practice in 2005, Conforte has helped to double the team and projects in size. Her extensive portfolio features a range of projects in all of SCB's major practice areas, including corporate office, higher education and law firms. In the last year, Conforte spearheaded significant corporate designs, including the United Airlines lounge at Heathrow International Airport in London as well as the Walgreens corporate renovations in Deerfield, IL.
“It's an incredible opportunity to continue the momentum of our growing interiors practice,” said Conforte. “I am honored to join SCB's leadership and be part of shaping the firm's future.”
Stevens joined SCB's San Francisco office early in 2012, and is recognized for his extensive student life design experience that includes award-winning work on more than a dozen university and college campuses. Stevens is currently designing a new $39M classroom and academic office building at the University of California, Merced. The facility is targeting LEED Platinum certification.
“My promotion speaks to SCB's deep commitment to the West Coast. I look forward to leading our work in the higher education and planning realm to the next level,” said Stevens.
“Sheyla and Tim are both incredibly talented designers who are integral to SCB”, said John Lahey, SCB's Chairman. “Sheyla has greatly contributed the success of our interiors practice while Tim's reputation for thoughtful design and innovation helps position SCB as a higher education thought leader. We are confident that these two individuals bring thoughtful leadership to SCB.”
