BALTIMORE-The Maryland Port Administration is studying the former Cristal Global plant in Hawkins Point as a possible site for a dredged material containment facility.
The Port Administration still favors the 300-acre Coke Point peninsula as the location for the plant, but has shown interest in the Cristal Globe plant property as an alternative if talks to acquire Coke Point from Environmental Liability Transfer Inc. fail, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.
The Cristal Global plant site is located at the border of Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County. The Port Administration made an offer in late February to acquire the Coke Point peninsula in Sparrows Point, but the offer was rejected. See story in the Baltimore Business Journal.
