NEW YORK CTY-Reports are that developer Sharif El-Gamal, whose proposed mosque at ground zero created considerable controversy in 2010, is contemplating a condominium development on property he controls on Park Place.

According to The Real Deal, El-Gamal has approached a number of real estate brokers in Manhattan about how to build and market condominiums at the Park 51 site, which had previously been the site of a proposed 15-story cultural center.

In January, El-Gamal purchased the property adjacent to the two Park Place parcels he already controls, at 43 Park Place, for $8 million. He already owns 45-47 Park Place and leases 51 Park Place from Con Edison. See story in The Real Deal.
