DETROIT-Tower Defense and Aerospace LLC has notified state authorities that it plans to close the former W Industries Inc. headquarters and plant here by the end of next month.
The firm, a subsidiary of Livonia-based Tower International, filed a notice last week with the Michigan Workforce Development Agency under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act that it plans to shutter the offices and plant on Hoover Street and lay off 190 workers on June 30, according to Crain's Detroit Business.
Tower acquired W Industries in 2011. Derek Fiebig, executive director of investor and external relations at Tower International, says Tower Defense and Aerospace has continued to post declining revenues since the acquisition. He adds that Tower is now seeking a buyer for its Defense and Aerospace subsidiary or its assets. See story in Detroit Chicago Business.
