CHICAGO-Sears Holding Corp. has hired Mid-America Real Estate Corp. to sublease space at eight stores in the state of Illinois.
The Hoffman Estates-based retailer is seeking to sublease space at two operating Sears locations in Bloomingdale and Crystal Lake, as well as four operating Kmart stores in Homewood, Tinley Park, Round Lake Beach and New Lenox. Mid-America will also be looking to lease two closed Kmart locations in Lansing and Rockford, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Sears spokesman Howard Riefs says the retailer has no plans to close the operating stores. He adds that Sears is looking for additional tenants to share space with the operating Kmart or Sears stores. See story in the Chicago Tribune.
