FORT LAUDERDALE-Tourism dollars spent in Broward County during the month of March set new records.
The county's bed tax raked in a record $6.29 million in March, an all-time high, according to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Other notable tourism-related factoids for the month of March include: Broward County's hotel industry delivered its 40th consecutive month of growth with average hotel occupancy at 88.4%, a 5% increase from the same period in 2012. Average daily room rates rose for the 25th consecutive month. The rate for the month of March was $153.34.
In 2012 there were 12.04 million visitors to Broward County, who spent $9.8 billion. This year local tourism officials are predicting a record 13 million visitors. See story in the Sun Sentinel.
