NEW YORK CITY-A chief official with JDS Development Group, which recently agreed to purchase Steinway Hall, says a new residential building to be built at the site will definitely be a high-rise.

“It will certainly be taller than 900 feet,” says Michael Stern, managing partner of JDS Development Group, which is buying the 16-story Steinway Hall and land beneath it with Property Markets Group and Atlantic Development Group. “What its ultimate height will be is yet to be determined.” The building could eventually rank as New York City's third tallest residential building, according to Bloomberg News.

The company is currently engaged in informal talks with the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission and others to determine what they can build on the property that includes Steinway Hall, home to piano maker Steinway & Sons, and at an adjacent parcel at 105-107 W. 57th St. they purchased last year.
