MIAMI-Home furnishings retailer IKEA broke ground on its fourth and largest Florida store in Sweetwater on Tuesday.
The new 416,000 square-foot IKEA store is being built lt on 14.6 acres near the Dolphin Mall and the intersection of the Florida Turnpike and the Dolphin Expressway in Sweetwater, according to the Miami Herald. The store is scheduled to open in the summer of 2014.
IKEA acquired the parcel for $31.5 million from Procacci Development Corp., of Boca Raton. “We're excited about growing our presence in the United States, particularly in Florida, where we also have stores in Sunrise, Tampa and Orlando,” says Joseph Roth, IKEA's U.S. public affairs manager.
