RALEIGH, NC-North Carolina officials announced on Wednesday that Japanese automotive systems manufacturer ASMO North America has agreed to invest $50 million in its manufacturing operations in Greenville.

The firm, which has a current workforce of 530 workers, will be adding another 200 employees by the end of 2016, according to the Triangle Business Journal.

Takashi Akai, president of the operations in Greenville, says the firm is committed to eastern North Carolina. “Our expansion will require highly-skilled associates and we look forward to strengthening our ties with Pitt Community College to provide the training needed for the future,” he says.

The expansion will allow ASMO to add more assembly lines and die cast machines. The firm also has manufacturing facilities in Statesville, NC, Texas and Michigan. See story in the Triangle Business Journal.
