RADNOR, PA-While the Radnor Board of Commissioners has the final say on the matter, the expansion plan by Villanova University was soundly rejected earlier this week by the Radnor Township Planning Commission.

The commission voted down a necessary zone change by an 8-1 margin for the $200-million plan that would have allowed a major expansion of its campus on Lancaster Ave. The plan calls for new dormitories, a parking garage, a performing arts center and stores, according to the Inquirer.

The commission was concerned about the impact the zoning change might have on other projects.

"That might work for Villanova," Planning Commission Chairwoman Julia Hurle says, "but it might have an impact on other parts of the township that we might regret." A university official states that Villanova will wait for the vote by the Board of Commissioners before deciding what it would do next. See story in the Inquirer.
