Martin, Patterson Launch Red Pointe Roofing

NEWPORT BEACH, CA-Commercial-roofing-industry veterans Aaron Martin and John Patterson have partnered with locally based Labrador Capital to launch Red Pointe Roofing, a commercial-roofing firm with offices in Orange and Los Angeles counties, servicing building owners in the Western US. The partnership between the two entities is the first of its kind in the commercial-roofing industry and could serve as a model going forward.

Martin, who will serve as Red Pointe's president, was previously president of Irvine-based DRI Commercial, where he was instrumental in the growth and success of its commercial-roofing business. Patterson, who will serve as the new firm's VP, managed DRI's business-development and marketing activities since 2003 and previously served as VP of business development for Southern California Roofing in Downey.

“Our model is simple,” said Martin in a prepared statement. “Red Pointe Roofing will humbly serve our team members and the industry by focusing on working safely and providing exceptional roof-system installations.”

Additional leadership at the new firm includes senior project managers Tod Fritts, Tony Clifford, Larry Burks and Jon Ogden and director of administration Diana Harari.

“Private-equity deals, for some reason, rarely get done in the specialty-trade arena,” said Sean Brophy, managing director for Labrador, in the statement. “For us, the opportunity made sense because it had all the elements we look for to ensure appropriate, risk-adjusted returns to our investors: a strong management team, a recession-resistant business and leadership in the industry.”

As GlobeSt.com reported last week, Sika Sarnafil, a roofing company for large-scale commercial, sports and industrial projects, has signed an eight-year lease for a 63,016-square-foot free-standing industrial building at the Cypress Corporate Center in Cypress. The building will be used for warehousing and distribution.
