NEW YORK CITY-Pier 57 developer Young Woo & Associates reports that at least five retailers will debut at the headhouse of the firm's 440,000-square-foot mall it is developing at Pier 57. The firm will open a portion of Pier 57 after Memorial Day.

Young Woo, which secured city approval to convert a portion of Pier 57 into an urban mall, announced the lease signings on Tuesday at the ICSC conference in Las Vegas. The developer has been installing repurposed shipping containers that will eventually house dozens of tenants in the building—a concept Young Woo first used at the Dekalb Market in Brooklyn. The headhouse is part of the 440,000-square-foot building Young Woo is redeveloping into retail.

The first tenants signed on at the19,000-square-foot headhouse are: Cold Press Coffee, Butchers Daughter, and Fletcher's BBQ. See story in Crain's New York Business.
