NEW YORK CITY-Morgan Stanley is subleasing 148,421 square feet for 11 years from AXA Equitable at the latter's 1290 Ave. of the Americas berth, The Real Deal reported Thursday afternoon. The investment bank reportedly was represented by a Jones Lang LaSalle team of Matthew Astrachan, Mitti Liebersohn and Paul Glickman. Representatives of AXA and Morgan Stanley declined comment on the Real Deal report, while a JLL spokesman did not respond to GlobeSt.com's requests for comment by deadline Friday.

The sublease would represent about one-third of AXA's 443,599 square feet at Vornado Realty Trust's 1290 Sixth Ave. It's the largest sublease to date in 2013, followed by a Sirius Satellite deal for 86,877 square feet at the same two-million-square-foot office tower, the Real Deal reported.

In 2012, Morgan Stanley signed a renewal and expansion of its headquarters space at Brookfield Office Properties' 1 New York Plaza. The deal, which won the Real Estate Board of New York's first-place Henry Hart Rice Award last month, entailed moving 2,300 back-office jobs from New Jersey and bumping up Morgan Stanley's space requirements to 1.2 million square feet at the Brookfield tower.
