PHILADELPHIA-Members of the Pennsylvania Convention Center's study group have reportedly told fellow board members that they are leaning toward recommending SMG to take over management of the convention center.

The West Conshocken-based management firm is vying for the management role of the Pennsylvania Convention Center with Comcast Spectacor's Global Spectrum.

At a meeting Wednesday, members of the study group told other directors that SMG is their leading candidate, according to The Inquirer. At the session the two companies gave presentations and addressed questions about how they were to bring new business to the center, deal with labor issues and ensure African Americans and women get a share of Convention Center work, the newspaper reports.

Three board members who attended Wednesday's meeting stressed that the board is still collecting information before making a final decision. The next meeting of the board of the Pennsylvania Convention Center is on June 5. See story in The Inquirer.
