SANTA BARBARA, CA-Urban Developments, the team behind the Alma del Pueblo LEED-Platimum mixed-use project under construction in the heart of Santa Barbara's downtown, says four residential units have sold, and the Santa Barbara Public Market is now fully leased.
Alma del Pueblo's 37 residences will be ready for move-in in the fall with the project's anchor retail, the Santa Barbara Public Market, set to open in September.
“We're thrilled to see homeowners seizing this unique opportunity to purchase a unit in this highly coveted location, offering an exceptional quality of life,” said Marge Cafarelli, principal of Urban Developments. “Alma del Pueblo is not only a project that's built to last, but – with the Santa Barbara Public Market – it's also a community gathering place that will contribute to the character of our city for years to come.”
Alma del Pueblo is located on the former site of a Von's grocery store in the heart of the historic El Pueblo Viejo district, downtown. The Santa Barbara Public Market occupies 15,000 square feet of retail and showcases regionally-sourced, artisanal and sustainably crafted food and wine in a community of 15 independent, best-in-class merchants. The Public Market will offer a vibrant mix of events and community activities including a kitchen, which will serve as a culinary incubator and will offer cooking classes, winemaker dinners and more.
The 11 merchants signed to date for the Santa Barbara Public Market are: Foragers Pantry, Belcampo Meat Co., Enjoy Cupcakes, Flagstone Pantry, Green Star Coffee, il Fustino oils and vinegars, JuiceWell, The Pasta Shoppe, Rori's Artisanal Creamery, WINE + BEER and The Kitchen. The balance of the merchants will be finalized in the upcoming weeks.
“To be under one roof with all these creative food proprietors is thrilling for me, not just as a fellow artisan, but also as a small business owner,” noted Rori Trovato, owner of Rori's Artisanal Creamery. “The Public Market is bringing this whole exciting food movement together for Santa Barbara, and I couldn't be happier to be on the ground-floor of something that's going to really blossom.”
