SPRINGFIELD, MA-With a ballot vote just four weeks away, MGM Resorts International is “not going to take anything for granted” in terms of support for its proposed casino project here, company officials said Tuesday. It would be one of three licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, one for each region of the state.
“We have an extensive campaign,” William Hornbuckle, president and chief marketing officer at MGM Resorts, told the Springfield, MA Republican. “That will continue with velocity leading up to July 16.”
MGM has pursued a proposed $800-million project here for approximately 18 months. It has held more than 400 meetings with “stakeholders” in Springfield, ranging from “massive rallies to talking to people in their living rooms,” Hornbuckle told the newspaper.
“We think we have a very good answer for Springfield and ultimately for Western Massachusetts,” Hornbuckle said. “We think we have a winning program and an idea that hopefully, truly brings economic development back to the community, back to the city.” Click here to read the complete article.
