EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ-Triple Five, the developer of the American Dream project here, has filed suit against the Jets and Giants and is seeking monetary damages in connection with the National Football League franchises' opposition to its development here.

Triple Five, in its suit filed on Tuesday charges that the Jets and Giants engaged in “an ongoing campaign to delay, thwart, and ultimately prevent this project from ever opening.”

In a separate action, Jets and Giants are currently seeking court approval to void the approval by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority of Triple Five's plans to add indoor water and amusement parks to the project, according to The Record. Triple Five has countered that its new 639,000-foot complex is vital to its plans to revive the long-delayed venture.

Karen J. Kessler, a spokesperson for the professional football teams, characterized the Triple Five litigation as “unfortunate.”

“We are excited with the project's recent progress and our vision in completing a world-class entertainment and retail destination,” stated American Dream President Paul Ghermezian. “We have exhausted our patience and tolerance for the interference and feel that we have to take an affirmative step in protecting our and the public's interests.” He adds that work at the American Dream project site will begin soon and that in August the firm will host “a groundbreaking ceremony followed by commencement of construction activities.” See story in The Record.
