NEW YORK CITY-With no more room to grow on its campus on the Upper East Side, Rockefeller University plans to build a new research building on a deck that will span over the FDR Highway here.
The university intends to build a two-story, 160,000-square-foot building on a platform over the FDR and the East River, according to Crain's New York Business.
"The new building is critical to maintaining the university's excellent standards for research and teaching, by allowing for the recruitment of new faculty to replace those lost by attrition, and for the renewal of laboratory space that is outdated and poorly suited to modern science," a university spokesman states in an e-mail.
The platform that will house the new research building will extend from about East 64th Street to East 68th Street. See story in Crain's New York Business.
