MIAMI—Berkowitz Development Group just inked an 8,000-square-foot lease with Famous Footwear at the Kendall Village Center. That brings the occupancy rate at the open-air shopping center and office building to 95%.
Located at 8651 Southwest 124 Avenue in Miami, FL, Kendall Village Center offers 276,000 square feet of national and boutique local retailers in a pedestrian friendly outdoor setting and 159,000 square feet of office space. The retail outlet is in the heart of Kendall at the intersection of North Kendall Drive (Southwest 88 Street) and The Florida Turnpike.
“Kendall Village Center has been a staple for the area since its opening in 1999,” says David Signer, vice president of Berkowitz, who represented the landlord in the deal. “Since that time, we've worked diligently to effectively position the open-air shopping destination as a prominent fixture in the national retailer community.”
According to recent reports, demand for space continues on an uptick for the limited supply within Kendall's retail leasing market, which represents a steadying economy. Local, national and global retailers are experiencing persistent growth in areas such as South Florida that show stable signs of bustling commerce.
“Famous Footwear will continue to complement the center's already diverse tenant mix which attracts and retain well-known retailers,” says Michael Berkowitz, president of Berkowitz. Marquis tenants include the Regal 16-plex Stadium Seating Theater, Old Navy, Gap, Nova Southeastern University, Pier 1 Imports, and LA Fitness.
