DUBLIN-Green REIT, an Irish property investment firm, has appointed Caroline McCarthy as its chief investment officer. Plans are for her to join the company September 2.

McCarthy most recently served as executive director of CBRE Ireland's capital markets team. In that role she worked with a variety of client including pension funds, banks and high net worth investors to acquire and dispose of assets in the UK, Ireland and Continental Europe.

“We are delighted to announce that Caroline will join the team as chief investment officer. She has a proven track record of investment in commercial property over many years and will be a valuable addition to Green REIT,” said Pat Gunne, managing director of Green REIT Property Ventures, the company's investment manager. “Following a successful capital raising, our focus now is to identify and acquire assets which match our investment objectives and to create sustainable and long-term value for shareholders of Green REIT.”

Prior to joining CBRE in 2003, Caroline established the property investment team within Bank of Ireland Private Banking. She also previously served in a variety of roles in property investment in King Sturge (now Jones Lang LaSalle) and Hill Samuel Asset Management (now Scottish Widows).

Green REIT plc is an Irish Real Estate Investment Trust (“REIT”) and is listed on the Irish and London Stock Exchanges. The company was the first REIT established in Ireland following the introduction of REIT legislation by the Irish government. The company's stated strategy is to create a property portfolio consisting primarily of commercial property in Ireland to deliver income and capital growth through opportunistic investments, active property management and prudent use of debt finance.
