MIAMI—The Sports Authority is keeping its retailing bets in Kendall. Berkowitz Development Group just inked a 43,000-square-foot lease renewal with the sporting goods retailer at its 194,624-square-foot Kendallgate Shopping Center.

“The recent renewal and updates within Sports Authority show that large-scale retailers continue to look forward to long-term success in the Kendall area,” says Michael Berkowitz, president of Berkowitz Realty Group, which represented the owner. “We continue to be able to successfully leverage Kendallgate's unique retail space offerings and the premier location in the heart of the density of Kendall to retain gold standard businesses within the plaza.”

Kendallgate Shopping Center is located at the entrance to West Kendall on the Southwest Corner of North Kendall Drive (SW 88 Street) and The Florida Turnpike. This is a high population area, helping the shopping center attract the likes of Bed Bath & Beyond, DSW, Petco, ULTA, and Comp USA.

“The steady increase in demand for retail space in the Miami market has a strong influence on tenants' decision to renew,” says Berkowitz. “The trend showcases the vibrancy of the Kendall retail sector.”
