CHATTANOOGA, TN-In advance of President Barack Obama's appearance at its fulfillment center here on Tuesday, online retail powerhouse Amazon says it plans to hire a total of 5,000 workers at 17 of its fulfillment centers across the country.
President Obama is scheduled to make an economic speech focused on policies that would spark job creation in the middle class on Tuesday at the Amazon warehouse here, according to the Washington Post.
The company says it will immediately begin hiring at 17 fulfillment centers for various warehouse positions. The new jobs will be full-time positions that will include health care benefits as well as stock awards and retirement savings plans, the company reports.
“We're focused on sustained innovation across Amazon and want to help our employees succeed — whether at Amazon or elsewhere,” says Dave Clark, vice president of worldwide operations and customer service for Amazon. See story in the Washington Post.
