TYSONS CORNER, VA-New York City-based conference center operator Convene will open its first facility in the Washington, DC region at a former seafood restaurant here.

Convene has leased 15,000 square feet of space at 1800 Tysons Blvd. in the Corporate Office Centre at Tysons II from Lerner Enterprises of Rockville, MD. The lease deal has a five-year term, according to the Washington Post.

Construction on the new conference center space is to begin in the next 40 days, with a planned November opening, says Convene co-founder Chris Kelly. He adds that Convene's expansion into the area was driven by client demand, in particular consulting firms that were looking for conference space in Tysons Corner. See story in the Washington Post.
