CHICAGO-Shopping center owner General Growth Properties is reportedly interested in acquiring a six-story retail building across the street from its Water Tower Place retail complex.
The locally-based real estate investment firm, which is the second largest owner of retail shopping malls in the US, plans to buy the 126,000-square-foot property at 830 N. Michigan Ave., according to Crain's Chicago Business. The deal could, if finalized, approach $148 million, the report states.
The building is anchored by fashion retailers Columbia Sportswear and Topshop and was formerly a Borders bookstore. Approximately 60,000 square feet of the building is available on floors two through six. See story in Crain's Chicago Business.
