NEW YORK CITY-Two Trees Management has tapped a Brooklyn expert to head up its leasing operations. The company has hired Thomas Conoscenti, the former executive director of planning and administration for the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, to serve as director of commercial leasing.
In his new position, Conoscenti will focus on Two Trees' office and retail properties, including 20 Jay St, 45 Main St. and 55 Washington St. in DUMBO, as well as some retail stores and, in Manhattan, 50 W. 23rd St. and some retail stores. He replaces Caroline Pardo, who reportedly has joined another company.
Taking the position was a no brainer, Conoscenti tells GlobeSt.com. “What Two Trees has done on the waterfront and, as a result, all the creative companies that have moved there [is impressive]. The opportunity to work in DUMBO and to work for Two Trees, the company that started it all, is pretty amazing.”
At the DBP, Conoscenti oversaw urban planning, real estate and commercial attraction initiatives. He served in various capacities with the organization for seven years.
He helped to attract many creative office tenants and restaurateurs to Downtown Brooklyn, including Makerbot, Homer, Ganso and Shake Shack. In addition, he worked on several major initiatives for the organization, including the conversion of the lower floors of the Brooklyn Municipal Building to retail and the conversion of 370 Jay St., a long-vacant MTA building, into an applied sciences campus for NYU Center for Urban Science and Progress.
“Tom has first-hand experience working with the types of industries that are growing in New York City, and will be a tremendous asset for the long-term growth of the company,” says Jed Walentas, principal, Two Trees Management.
