NEW YORK CITY-When the Gotham Organization's newest property, Gotham West, opens later this month in Hell's Kitchen, it likely will bring local multifamily development to another level. That's because the building—which will have 554-luxury rental units—will feature a number of high-end amenities and a 15,000-square-foot market featuring eight artisan food purveyors and restaurants, in addition to a bike shop.
The 32-story building will feature 10,000 square feet of landscaped outdoor space and an interior landscaped indoor courtyard spanning 9,000 square feet. Overlooking the courtyard will be a residents-only lounge, outfitted with a state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen, an art gallery, a library and a game room. Also on site at the building will be a roof deck, additional communal spaces, including one for children, and a gym that even offers separate studios for weights, cardio, yoga, and cycling.
Gotham West Market is comprised of eateries from trendy chefs or those serving the latest cuisine craze, along with another demonstration kitchen. But residents without the inclination to shop will be in good stead: complimentary breakfast is served daily.
Residences in the high-end unit “boast elegant, creative finishes rarely, if ever, found in rental buildings,” according to Gotham officials. The company decided to create such a building because, simply put, it saw a need.“Gotham brings a higher level of finish to our rental buildings as we know our renters value the care we put into the details,” says Melissa Pianko, EVP, development. “We are New Yorkers, and know what New Yorkers need, so we provide it to them.”
Of course, such upscale living doesn't come cheap. Rents begin at $2,750 for a studio and go up to over $10,000 for a three-bedroom in the new complex. But Gotham executives feel they have justification for solid ground charging such rates, “We feel we have elevated luxury living another notch,” says David Picket, president.
