WASHINGTON, DC-The DC Housing Authority is looking to redevelop its headquarters property at 1133 Capitol St. NE in the NoMa section of the district.

The authority, which manages the district's more than 8,000 public housing stock, announced last week that it is seeking developers interested in redeveloping the property. In a 74-page solicitation document, the agency called its current home “inadequate for DCHA's corporate and customer service requirements,” according to the Washington Business Journal.

The agency hopes to secure 80,000 square feet of new DCHA offices at the same location, 70 subsidized apartment units, and 46,000 square feet of space elsewhere in the district. Developers would have the right to build a mixed-use project at the site that could total as much as 1.1 million square feet. The authority has given a Sept. 9th deadline for developers to express interest in the venture. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
