CLERMONT, FL-A sinkhole caused about 30% of a resort villa in Lake County to collapse here early Monday morning.
The villa at the Summer Bay Resort, which housed 105 guests, was evacuated and no injuries were reported. As of Monday morning, Lake County fire officials said that 30% of the structure collapsed around 3 a.m., according to the Associated Press.
Lake County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Tony Cuellar said emergency officials were also concerned about another section of the villa that was sinking as well. The sinkhole is about 40 to 50 feet in diameter.
Witnesses told the Associated Press they could hear a cracking sound as the villa began sinking. See story in the Tampa Bay Times.
