NEW YORK CITY-Residential brokerage firm Douglas Elliman is moving down Frederick Douglass Boulevard to larger offices.

The firm's Harlem office, now housed at 2169 Frederick Douglass Blvd., will relocate to a new larger office on the corner of West 114th Street at 2112 Frederick Douglass Blvd. The firm had operated out of the 2169 space for the past seven years.

"We were a little late in coming to Harlem, maybe the third or fourth of the big firms to open up here, but ever since, we've been really committed," states John Lawrence, an Elliman executive vice president and co-manager of the Harlem office. "This move is good for the office, and for the community, quite frankly." Jeffrey Rothstein, an executive vice president and director of sales at Elliman, is the co-manager of the Harlem office with Lawrence.

The new office at 2112 Frederick Douglass Blvd. is about 30% larger and can accommodate 28 brokers, a few more than the previous space. The new office also has a new conference room, which the old office lacked.

"We're right in the heart of things," Lawrence adds. "When we first decided to open on Frederick Douglass Boulevard, it was a real gamble, before it became restaurant row, but now it's amazing to see how the neighborhood has changed, and I think we've been an important part of that."
