BALTIMORE-Mazda has inked a five-year deal that calls for the automaker to ship 65,000 vehicles from its assembly plants in Japan to the Port of Baltimore.
The deal makes the city of Baltimore the port of entry for all Mazda vehicles in the Northeast.
The contract that begins next month is with auto processor Amports, which will handle the Mazda vehicles at its Fairfield-based Chesapeake Auto Terminal, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.
The contract with Mazda is expected to create 450 new jobs, including 160 direct positions. See story in the Baltimore Business Journal.
