NORTH BETHESDA, MD-Mall ownership states in court documents that Bloomingdale's is considering returning to a redeveloped White Flint Mall.

Bloomingdale's, which was a major mall tenant, did not renew its lease when it expired in March 2012 due to falling sales. However, White Flint LP, which is looking to spend $4 billion to turn the mall property into a massive mixed-use development, revealed in court documents that it has been in negotiations with Bloomingdales to have the retailer return as an anchor tenant at its planned open-air town center project, according to the Washington Business Journal. White Flint LP is owned by principals of Lerner Enterprises and The Tower Cos.

The discussions were reported in court documents filed on Monday in connection with a lawsuit brought by White Flint tenant Lord & Taylor in July seeking to put off the redevelopment until it lease expires in 2055. White Flint officials stated in court papers that in addition to Bloomingdales, it is in talks with several other potential anchor retail tenants. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
