NEW YORK CITY-Brookfield Properties is reportedly in serious negotiations to purchase the home of the New York Mercantile Exchange at 1 North End Ave. here.

The 16-story property is located next to the 8-million-square-foot Brookfield Place office complex. NYMEX occupies part of the 1 North End Ave. building where it operates large open floors for commodities market trading.

Several sources tell Crain's New York Business that Brookfield will pay more than $190 million for the property. NYMEX will remain a tenant in the property, but plans to shrink its presence at the building. See story in Crain's New York Business.
