PHILADELPHIA-As part of a consolidation of CBS Radio Properties, two CBS radio stations are moving from Bala Cynwyd to Market Street here. The relocations will result in 100 jobs being shifted to downtown Philadelphia.
Marc Rayfield, market manager for CBS Radio properties in Philadelphia, says that the consolidation plan will reduce CBS Radio locations in the region from three to two, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal. The plan calls for radio stations WPHT and WOGL to move from 2 Bala Plaza in Bala Cynwyd, PA. to 400 Market St. by the spring of next year. WIP will remain at 400 Market St. In addition, KYW NewsRadio will move its studios from 400 Market St. to 1555 Hamilton St., joining CBS 3 at the property.
“From a synergy standpoint, being in the same building, things can happen. Right now, (managers) know one another, but the producers and reporters may not know one another,” Rayfield says “It only makes sense.” See story in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
