ALEXANDRIA, VA-After revising its plans earlier this month, officials with Carr Hospitality are expected to appear before Alexandria's Board of Architectural Review next month in connection with its plan to build a 121-room boutique hotel here.

The proposed hotel would be built at the former Cummings warehouse at 220 South Union St. After addressing some community concerns, Carr Hospitality President Austin Flajser hopes the plan will meet with approval from city officials in the months ahead. The hotel will also feature an 80-seat restaurant and a small meeting room.

"We have spent a lot of time meeting with the community, and the end result is something we're very excited about," Flajser says. He adds that the development cost for the hotel would be less than $50 million. Construction of the new hotel would take between 15 months to 18 months to complete.
