CHERRY HILL, NJ-The Fair Share Housing Center has filed a notice of appeal to have affordable housing developed at the former Woodcrest Country Club here.
The litigation could thwart efforts by to preserve the bankrupt golf course as open space, according to The Inquirer. The center filed a notice of appeal Wednesday, arguing that state environmental officials should not have excluded the golf course property from a sewer-service plan, thus hindering development of affordable housing.
Camden County Freeholder Jeff Nash, who during the club's bankruptcy proceedings vowed to preserve the 178-acre course as open space, said of the center's court filing, "Over my dead body will this precious property be destroyed in favor of high-density development.” See story in The Inquirer.
