PAULSBORO, NJ-Construction continues on the first phase of the ambitious Port at Paulsboro project in spite of the recent news that a major tenant has decided not to invest at the project.

Representatives of South Jersey Port Corp., which is developing the project along the Delaware River, say they are disappointed in Dole's recent decision to keep its port operations in Wilmington, DE. Dole had seriously considered being the first tenant at the Port at Paulsboro project, according to NJ Biz.

"We're moving on from them and looking at some other opportunities," said Kevin Castagnola, executive director and CEO of South Jersey Port Corp.

The project broke ground in 2009 with the first phase now nearly finished. Phase one, estimated to cost approximately $200 million, will leave the port a blank slate on which tenants can customize their operations. See story in NJBiz.
