TOMS RIVER, NJ-Strategic Storage Trust has picked up its sixth self-storage facility in the state, a 490-unit property that traded here for $5.2 million.
The 45,630-square-foot facility at 1864 Route 9 (Lakewood Rd) will be re-branded under the SmartStop® Self Storage trade name.
This will be the storage REIT's second self-storage facility in Toms River. The other is seven miles away at 3200 Route 37 East.
Developed in 2007, the two-story self-storage facility offers drive-up units, surveillance cameras, climate-controlled units, keypad entry and a retail office for onsite management.
“This recently developed property is the perfect addition to our growing New Jersey portfolio and offers additional upside potential,” said SST's chairman and CEO, H. Michael Schwartz.
The Ocean County property is near the Jersey Shore communities of Pelican Island, Dover Beaches, Seaside Heights and Seaside Park. Toms River is located approximately 30 miles east of Trenton, about halfway between New York City (50 miles to the north) and Atlantic City (40 miles to the south).
The company's other self-storage facilities in New Jersey include two in Riverdale, one in Jersey City and one in Trenton. Strategic Storage Trust is one of five publicly registered self-storage REITs in the United States.
