TAMPA-A week from today, life science business executives will gather here for the annual BioFlorida conference. This year's event describes the state as an “evolving epicenter” for the life sciences.
Florida does not have a high ranking on many bioscience lists. For example, The Milken Institute recently ranked Florida No. 38 among the 50 states on its science and technology index, while Central and South Florida came in at No. 18 among 21 regions in the United States in a Jones Lang LaSalle Life Sciences Cluster report released in early 2013.
The BioFlorida event, to be held on Sept. 16-17 at the Tampa Marriott Waterside is looking to build momentum for the state in the life sciences arena, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal.
Debbie Sutherland, conference chair and CEO of the USF Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation, says that Florida's workforce and investment climate are making the state more attractive for bioscience firms. See story in the Jacksonville Business Journal.
