SEATTLE-The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will move its Seattle office to Columbia Center next year.

The Puget Sound Business Journal reports that department has signed a 10-year lease for a portion of the 15th floor and all of floors 16 and 17. By Spring 2014, the agency will occupy 55,627 square feet for at least 10 years, and there is an option to add five years beyond the initial term.

The move will consolidate the space used by the department and the $20 million contract will save the government around $10 million, sources told the Journal. Managers of 1.5-million-square-foot tower has been seeking new tenants since Amazon.com vacated several years ago. The Journal article indicated that occupancy was as low as 67% earlier this year.
