WASHINGTON, DC-Georgetown University is reportedly considering developing a satellite residential undergraduate campus that could be located as far as three miles from its DC campus in Clarendon, VA.
The university is wrestling with how to meet its commitment to house an additional 385 students by the fall of 2015, student leaders familiar with the discussions say.
Besides Clarendon, the university is also considering a site near Capitol Hill and a location north of campus on Wisconsin Avenue, according to hoya.com.
No cost estimates for the student housing projects were released. “We have heard from students that university housing outside of the immediate Georgetown neighborhood could be appealing,” Georgetown University Director of Media Relations Rachel Pugh wrote in an e-mail to campus media outlets. “We are interested in exploring this option as one of many alternatives and want to ensure we are soliciting students' input to learn what they would like and what they would not like at an off-campus housing location.” See story at hoya.com.
