WINSTON-SALEM, NC-The City-County Planning Board approved by a resounding 7-2 margin on Thursday a proposal to build a commercial development in western Winston-Salem that will include a Walmart grocery store.
The property owner ARP Winston-Salem LLC requested the rezoning of 7.5 acres in western Winston-Salem for a commercial development that would include the Walmart grocery store and two out-parcels. The property is on the north side of Country Club Road, east of Meadowlark Drive, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
The proposal will now go before the full Winston-Salem City Council for approval. The proposal is expected to be discussed on Oct. 7. A representative for engineering firm Genesis North Carolina and developer Columbia Development of Columbia, SC, terms the proposal as a modification of a plan previously approved for the site in 1998.
