WASHINGTON, DC-Officials with Trinity Washington University here say that a summer 2014 groundbreaking is planned for the university's first new academic building in more than 50 years.
The university received a financial boost from a college alumna who donated $10 million towards the $40-million project. Trinity President Patricia McGuire says the planned four-story 80,000-square-foot center is slated for completion in fall 2016, according to the Washington Business Journal.
“This will be transformative for the future of most of our educational programs," McGuire said.
The planned building will replace an science building constructed in 1941 and will feature eight science labs, four nursing labs and about 20 classrooms. Trinity has hired EYP Architecture and Engineering to design the building, Clark Construction Group LLC as general contractor, Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. for project management, and Goulston & Storrs for land use and financing representation.
