CHICAGO-The Illinois Medical District Commission hopes to transform nine acres of land on the West Side of Chicago into a hub for health care and bioscience.

The commission unveiled plans for a $162-million mixed-use development at 2020 West Ogden Ave. that is projected to include a life sciences incubator, a 200-room hotel, retail space, a 200-unit apartment high-rise and medical office space, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Higgins Development Partners of Chicago was selected by the commission to lead a development group of nine firms to develop The IMD Gateway Center. Construction is expected to begin in the late summer of next year. See story in the Chicago Tribune.
