WHEATON, MD-Montgomery County is putting its best efforts into redeveloping an area around the Wheaton Metro.

The county, along with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, recently chose StonebridgeCarras and the Bozzuto Group to lead the $200-million redevelopment initiative.

The two agencies are putting up three Wheaton properties for the project: the Mid-County Regional Services Center Offices at 2406 Reedie Dr., and parking lots at 11143 Grandview Ave. and 2510 Ennalls Ave. Those properties will be the site for a new office building for the Park and Planning Commission, residential towers, and a town square, according to the Washington Post.

Once the new county offices are built, the building where they are currently located, at 8787 Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring, will be torn down and replaced with housing and retail.

Doug Firstenberg, a principal at StonebridgeCarras, said the Wheaton redevelopment plans call for buildings totaling approxixatley 500,000 square feet. See story in the Washington Post.
